Middle Georgia Pool Filter Repair & Replacement
Make Sure Your Pool Is Covered with a High-Quality Filter
One of the most critical components of any pool is the filter; it is also one of the most misunderstood. Filters clean the pool’s water by removing dirt, debris, and other unwanted material. When you are creating the environment you want for your pool, it’s important to cover all aspects, including choosing the best filter for your particular pool system.
For central Georgia pools, there are three types of filters most commonly used:
- Sand
- Cartridge
- Diatomaceous earth (DE)
Sand and cartridge filters are very popular options due to their ease of use and generally lower maintenance requirements. DE filters provide the greatest level of water filtration available, but they are costly and require more monitoring and maintenance.
In addition, filters are rated by the number of gallons of water they can handle. The more water a filter needs to handle, the greater its maximum flow rate needs to be. Selecting a filter with too low of a maximum flow rate could leave you with an unhealthy pool.
For all your pool services, including Middle Georgia pool filter repair and replacement, Superior Pools has you covered. Our technicians have experience servicing and installing all types of pool filters, and we will help you choose the perfect one for your particular pool and individual usage.

Types of Pool Filters
Sand Filters
By far the most common type of pool filter is the sand filter. This type of filter is relatively inexpensive and very easy to use and maintain. Sand filters contain a bed of sand that traps dirt and debris before the water re-enters the pool. The larger particles get trapped in the sand, and the smaller ones stick to the sand. Over time, the debris will build up, and the water pressure in the filter will decrease. This will slow the flow of water back to the pool and compromise the filtration process. When this happens, the sand must be cleaned or replaced.
Cartridge Filters
A cartridge filter works by forcing the water through a cartridge made of a pleated material. Debris is trapped by the cartridge, and clean water returns to the pool. For best results, owners should schedule weekly pool cleaning to increase the lifespan of a cartridge. It is important to note that cartridges have a finite life and will need to be replaced over time.
Depending on the amount of debris in your pool, it’s possible that you will have to clean out your cartridge filters monthly to make sure that your pool filter is working correctly. Let your local pool tech handle these regular pool and spa services so all the work is taken care of for you.
Diatomaceous Earth (DE) Filters
A DE filter is the most efficient pool filter available. DE filters work by using a pre-coat of DE to trap even the smallest particles before the clean water re-enters the pool. The water is sent through a series of earth or cellulose-coated screens, which trap the debris or dust, providing clean water.
